As a late starter to comedy, Billy Stiles has fast become a rising star in the Australian stand-up scene with his comedy on stage and viral videos.

Known for his dry observations and deadpan humour, Billy has a talent for hilarious one-liners and is taking the comedy scene by storm with his iconic, laid back style that is relatable to all.

Billy Stiles has quickly moved through the ranks and found himself regularly working with Australia’s best, including Jimeoin, Kitty Flanagon, Dave Hughes, Dave O’Neil, Peter Helliar, Dave Thornton and more.

At Roth's, comedy isn’t just for the pros - it’s for the brave, the curious, and the “I reckon I’m funny after two wines” crowd.

Roth's Comedy Club: Amateur Hour is our open-mic night where absolutely anyone can step on stage and give stand-up a crack. First timers, bucket-listers, seasoned pub-storytellers, or comedians testing new material — this is the safest place in town to bomb gloriously or accidentally kill.

Expect a packed room, supportive laughs, and the kind of unpredictable energy that only happens when nobody knows what’s coming next.

What is it?

A casual, welcoming open-mic comedy night designed for beginners and hobbyists, not polished touring acts. Think less “Netflix special”, more “mates at the bar but with a microphone”.

The goal:
create a stage where trying matters more than succeeding.

How it works

First-ever stand-up attempts
Storytelling
One-liners

Heckling
Reading your entire Notes app for 10 minutes

The Vibe

Supportive, forgiving, and fun.
The audience is part of the experience, people want you to do well, and even when you don’t… that’s half the entertainment.

Bombing here is a rite of passage, not a failure.

The Why

Because every great comedian started somewhere; usually in a room at a bar with a slightly too-bright spotlight and a crowd holding wine glasses.

We want to give Mudgee a stage:

to try something new
to be a little brave
and to laugh at each other (kindly)
