Robert Roth
Licensed as a wine bar since January 1923, Roth's Wine Bar represents a slice of Mudgee's history. Before it was a bar, it was a general store that began when the young lad Robert Roth left Craigmoor Vineyards at 22 years of age.
We've seen a few late nights
Since our license began 100 years ago, it hasn't had a break. That makes us the oldest wine bar in NSW, but just like a fine wine, we've improved with age.
The Home Rule Band
Great live music is'n't a new concept to Roth's Wine Bar, it was well known as the base for the act 'The Home Rule Band'. Loyal to Roths they played once a month for 20 years, often joined by local poets and performers.
Roths Licence
The story goes that it was once a general store which sold ‘under the counter’ beverages to the thirsty farmers who’d made the long journey into town for their monthly supplies. The local constabulary were naturally not comfortable with this so they 'encouraged' Roth's to become licensed.
